Post Eclipse Saturday Sun

It was a week of astrological wonderments. There was the eclipse that was experienced overseas, on the other side of the hemisphere. Then there's those guys in the shuttle in outer space. But, what the major media didn't know is that miracles and wonderments were happening right here in the States at Pantera Park. Tell me if it's not a miracle to see a celestial being. That is the paranormal, there was a sighting right here at Pantera Park. I have pictures and witnesses. The unbelievers should just look below.

Okay maybe it's the heat frying my brain. For some strange reason, the heat and sun appear more severe at Pantera. Some theorist my attribute it to the albedo of the concrete surface there compared to that of the asphalt surface at Chapparal. Others claim the higher elevation may be the culprit. I say it's the aliens from planet X using their solar magnification and tracking devices. There out to get me you know....
Well, Angel dropped in on us again this Saturday, (okay that's the paranormal sighting I was talking about) and there was a whole list of new faces. Roy brought Channing to make up for his late arrival. Good move Roy. Channing brought youth and energy to the courts. And there were other new faces but I didn't have the pleasure of meeting one father and son team and a bunch of the Pantera Park regulars. Bruce made it to the park for the first time. And the regulars, Danny, Virgil, Bill the Commish, Robert "Wei-Jin" Lee, Kenny, Kyle, Rich, Eric, Mike, Luis and all. And here's another miracle, Victor was actually on time. Maybe it's the motorbike. But, all-in-all, the turnout was terrific. All three courts were going.

Mike takes a break in the shade. Shade is one of the better features of Pantera, on the sideline and on the court in the early morning.

The Angel sighting....

The far reaching shade....

I was strolling around the office and snapped a few pictures of the new Ritz-Carlton across form the Staples' Center.

Hope to see you all at Pantera Saturday morning!!!!

A Familiar Face Returns

Following our Ciommissioners birthday earlier this summer, a stream of familiar faces have been re-surfacing. Angel appeared a couple of weeks ago, maybe because we are now hooping in hias virtual back yard. I'm still looking forward to a Steve Jensen sighting on the courts, since we are close to his home. But, Brandon came by this past Saturday morning to host a clinic. nfortuunately, his lessons required that his team stay on the courts most of the morning if not all morning. I was trying to take notes during my lesson, but he wouldn't stand still long enough for me to sufficiently record the lesson. Maybe he'll pick it up this next Saturday, I'll look for some Cliff notes to prepare. Welcome back.

Our office complex was invaded by the USC Trojan band this past Monday. I don't know the occassion. But these photos are from my office window. Of course I heard the music as I was goiing about my daily duties. This is for you Trojan fans. I'm hoping the Bruins show up before the end of the week for balance.

One Hot July Day

The one thing you will notice on days like Saturday, when it gets so hot early is that there are a lot of people on the courts early in the day. And when you look at the pictures later, there are more people sitting than playing.

The great thing about Pantera Park is that there is plenty of shade available. Even late into the morning. Some of the shade stays on the court through the morning hours and helps fight the bite of the heat.

There was a great turnout this particular morning and hopefully, that will be the case again this coming Saturday morning. Lets pray for cooler weather.

Nick shows his superior "gunnage". Thats why he's a teenage phenom.
