Finally, A Return To Chaparral...

Well, finally, the return to Chaparral. And it was quite a return with a great turn out despite the elevated temperatures. As I drove to the courts Saturday morning at about 7:45 am, I saw the thermostat at the bank on the corner of Grand Avenuw and Diamond Bar Boulevard. I was shocked to see that it was already 80 degrees Farienhiet, before 8:oo am!! But, the faithful still showed up and braved the heat and poor air quality. It was a great time. I personally love it when there are father and son combinations at the court, second to that is when brothers come out to hoop together and among the crew.

We had a little of both. Of course, the faithful, the DelArosa's, Victor and Zachary; then there was Nick and his father. Next the Dalafu brothers, Jason and Nicholas. And then we had a return of our long displaced brethren, Peter Anderson from the Northern side of the State. It was a good day for all.

The day ended with a cool sip of juice and green tea at the local 7-Eleven. A cool finish to a sweltering day. Lets hope for a cooler week, a cooler Saturday, have a great one and lets see you all at Chaparral next week!!

Pantera Again?

I guess something must have happened at the old grounds to land everybody at Pantera again this Saturday morning. I was pre-occupied in Fullerton at a seminar, so I wasn't there. But, it looks like there was plenty of hoops to go around at Pantera. Everyone knows that the alternate to Chaparral is Pantera. So, whenever the Chap grounds are unavailable, the group meets at Pantera.

Thanks again to Robert for the photos. It is good to see many of the guys have returned from thir vacations or whatever it was keeping them away. Hope to see everyone next week. maybe at Chaparral, maybe at Pantera.

A View of Chaparral...and More Pics

Robert has supplied us with a vision of the current condition of the courts. I imagine that it is no surprise that the courts are still in the works. Maybe this coming Saturday the grounds will be ready. I am sure are good freind Robert will keep us informed through the week.

I may be the only one to think that the weather we've had the past two Saturdays has been great. I love the cooler summer weather with the cloud cover. Hopefully, this string of weather continues, yet I know this is Southern California, the heat will be coming back soon.

Another Day at Pantera Afterall...

Apparently, the courts were not ready this past weekend and so court was held at Pantera once again. But, word is that the Chaparral grounds will be ready for this coming Saturday. Of course, I am sure that Robert will check it's availability during the week and keep us posted just as he did this past weeks. Many thanks to Robert for his periodic reports on the condition of the courts at Chaparral.

This Saturday was cool, cloudy and perfect for playing basketball outdoors. The turnout was good. The group operated two courts for most of the morning. Yet, many of the regulars were not present. However, as vacation season draws to an end, I am sure that attendance will pick up even more. As Mike said in a recent email, the goal is to occupy all three of the courts at Pantera, but although we move from Chaparral, the goal is still a compeling one.
Many thanks to those of you that have started to bring coolers with Gatorade and water bottles. It has helped tremendously in dealing with the heat. I don't have all the names, but Eric, Victor and others - Thank you on behalf of the WBA!!

Many well wishes to Kyle and Hunter that have begun their training for the football season down in San Diego! Have a great week everybody.
