Springly Basketball

Another beautiful Spring morning in the Southland. Add a few hours of basketball with some of the most engaging folks in the State and you've got the WBA. The mix included impressive numbers, about twenty-five (25) people. One with a return visit after a long, long absence.

Kevin graced us with his presence and I don't think I've seen him in a few years. Hard to believe he hasn't missed a step, but he hasn't. He still has the inside moves that I can't stop. I'm trying something new here. I'm adding a video. One would think that I'd have Kevin in the video, but I didn't get an opportunity to video him because I was chasing him around in the game. Unfortunately, I was posterized more than I care to admit. No, thats not why I didn't film the event(s).

Okay so if a pictures worth a thousand words how much is a video worth? The answer - I don't know, whatever you say it is... Here's another video featuring Danny being, well, you know - Danny.... Or maybe a Richard Simmons (http://idaho-style.blogspot.com/2009/06/culture-sweatin-with-richard.html) imitation.....

Anyway here are a load of pictures from the day......

CONTROVERSIAL RECORD DECLARATION AT THE CHAPARRAL!!!!
Yes there is a minor controversy regarding the longest string of wins put together by a team here at the Chaparral. Mike Fox is claiming the record of the longest streak of wins put together by a team at 5 in a row. I think there have been longer streaks but since the league, in its infancy, kept no records, Mike Fox's claim will stand as the record unless the Commish or other senior member of the "Board" claims otherwise. By the way, thanks Mike for that box (cash, gold & negotiable bonds) that was just delivered to the crib.

The team consisted of Mike Fox, Ike,Roy, Larry and Rich. I might add that my team of Brandon, Shane, Allen, Eric and me (Paul); ended the reign of the Titans (Mike Fox, Ike,Roy, Larry and Rich). If not challenged by the end of the week, the "Titans" will own the record and maybe even the bragging rights. Challenges can consist of recollections of past glory or cash, gold and negotiable bonds that exceed that which was recently delivered anonymously to publication headquarters.

One might get the impression from this picture that we had a picnic, with basket, blanket and ice chest....

Spring Has Sprung in March 2010

The first day of Spring found Chaparral with a terrific crowd of the usual crew and quite a few out-of-towners. Of course, we all know our good freind Randy (a.k.a. Kobe). He dropped in on us from Las Vegas. Randy was at his usual business rebounds and blocked shots. He said his wingsapn is 6'-7". Which Ihave experience many times while I watch my shot go the opposite direction from that which I intended.

Danny, Ben, Roy and Luis take a moment to pose for the camera.

We were also honored by the prescence of Jesse's freinds; Chelsea and Tom from the New York City adjacent part of New Jersey. Their speed, skill and tenacity represented East Coast hoops very impressively. We all are looking forward to their return to the West Coast, hopefully, sometime very soon.

WBA visitors from New Jersey, Chelsea and Tom.

Oftentimes we wish Victor was from out-of-town, but alas, he's not so he and his (always welcome) son, Zach, came by towing a pup that has more energy and speed than all of the thirty or so participants that graced the courts at Chaparral this past Saturday. It was a near perfect day with cool breezes and warm weather. Maybe a few clouds in the sky but hard to notice with the preponderance sunshine otherwise.

Nacho and Ike ponder the possibilities presented by the day.

DJ shows his cousin DeAndre a few moves as Jesse, Rich and Danny look on.

Jaime takes a water break.

Raphael, DJ, Jesse, Rich Danny and others bask in the sunlight as they prepare for the next game.

ike, Tony, Randy, Bill, Steve Eric and others settle the score and re-start game play.

Ike, Jesse, Zach, Danny, Nacho, Bruce, Roy and Eric are caught in game action.

More action - Ike preps for a precision pass.

Ike starts his move on Jesse.

Obama is back again. This time no secret service escort. Leonard (44) and all get ready for the next game.

Never count Obama (a.k.a. Leonard) out of the game.

Steve, Randy (a.k.a. Kobe) and Tony take a breather after some intense competition.

Zach packs it in and heads home with his pup.
If anyone needs a sofa or side chair, let me know. I have some extras at the house.nnIf you're interested, I can email the pictures.
