Two events of significance happened during this posting cycle, the official WBA photographer returned and I found additional pictures from mid-June. On June 12th the turn out was okay, but I remember that I took only a few pictures because I spent all the time playing. Unfortunately, Robert was predisposed doing other important matters outside of his WBA rhealm.
So here are the pictures from the June of Gloom. June 12th and of course the morning, like all the others in June was cloudy and the temps cool.
June 12, 2010The coolest thing about the day was the electronic scoring board that was brought by one of the faithful. And even though the operator was in the game, he could operate the board with a remote conttroller. For once, there were no arguments over the score!

The electronic score board.

Eric, Danny, Allen, Mike, Rich and others prepare for the game.
July 2, 2010 - Dully (Dull-eye) July
Here at the Weekend Basketball Association we've just gone through a month of "June Gloom". Yes, not one Saturday morning in the month of June 2010, started without a significant cloud cover, hence a month of June Gloom. Well, here we get started in July with cloudy skies and we can't call it June Gloom anymore. Can we....? My proposal, "Dully July"; pronounced "dull-eye july". Brilliant huh!! Okay, maybe "Dull(eye) July" is not quite ready to forge the next trend jn catchy phraseology. I've noticed all the local weatherpersons are stumped too. What do you call the morning marine layer during the month of July. Maybe we'll settle for July Gloom, but it's so blah.

Turnout was outstanding this July 2nd. There were about 34 people that showed up ready to play. As a result, there were as many as three courts going.

Allen gets his game face together.

It's not a posting unless I have a posting a photo of Rich Mathews. So now this posting is official!

Mike advances the ball in his usual point guard form.

The new multipurpose building, in the background, nears completion in the field adjacent to the courts.

James Anderson performs his usual wizardry with the ball as he goes up for a score.

Scott, Raphael, Mike, Jesse, Ben, Bill and others look on as James grabs a pass.

DeAndre dribbles up-court as the opposing team prepares for a defensive stand.

To rebound or not to rebound, that is the question....

DeAndre shoots and Robert prepares for the rebound.

Zach preps for the next game.

Shane and DeAndre head for the sidelines following the game.

Rest may be the best part of the mornings' games.

Robert provides Vic with his autograph. hopefully, he received proper compensation for it....

Victor practices his hitchhiking technique. Just look at those l...egs. Sorry about the pause, I got a little sick.

Eric recoils after the perfect full court pass.

Number 7, Mario, Roys nephew had a birthday on Saturday. Happy Birthday Mario!

Mario, far right, prepares to grab a rebound, as Uncle Roy, Steve, Zach and Joey look on.

Eric attaacks the basket, defense beware!!

The shot....

Okay, who shot that ball?

Scott manuevers around the defense.

Kent takes a practice shot.

Lots of smiles on display. Thats what we like to see!!!

DeAndre, Rick and Raphael prepare to play ball.

Practice makes perfect....

Ken waves to say hello. Unfortunately, we only see him on the holidays.

Eric ponders the three options; pass, shoot or dribble.

Where's the ball?

A few years ago Paul could grab the rim without the assistance of a well placed trash can.

Matt with his Cardinal friend.

Kent goes up for the shot.

Steve makes a play for the ball as he and Paul head for the asphalt.
July 5, 2010 - Post Independence Day
There was a decent tuen-out following Independence Day. About 14 people showed up. Among those that showed up was Manny, pictured below. I haven't seen Manny in a few years. Great seeing him again. I think he played in only one game though. Hopefully, he'll be back again in the near future.

Manny with Jaime and Allen practicing in the background.

Eric, Bill, Allen and Robert practice before the games begin.
More pictures to follow from Robert "Wei-Jen" Lee before the weeks over.....
Until then, have a great week and pray for peace!
