It was another gloomy day in early July, continuing in the pattern set in June. Only this morning the sun didn't break through until we had long left the courts. The turnout was good. About 14 people showed up. It was a good time followed by an excursion to Spicy Kimchee for boba.
The drama of the NBA off-season ends hopefully with the spetacle of LeBron James decision to go to Miami and join Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh there. Is it still D Wades Team? Can the three share the stage. After all the hoopla with his choice to go to Miami and abandon Cleveland, one wonders if LBJ is ready to share the stage with D Wade and Chris Bosh. Anyway it should be a momentous season coming up this fall. I'm sure David Stern is elated. It will be interesting to see what happens in Cleveland with all that salary cap room they have now. It will be a challenge for them to woo someone to go out there in the future.
Check the sidebar for some opinions about the recent moves of LBJ and Shaquille O'Neal the newest Celtic. I think he wants a little more revenge on the Lakers. or is he chasing another title. Guess he already wore out his welcome down there in Miami with the new and unproven "Big Three".
The Lakers anticipate the loss of Farmar and perhaps others with the acquisition of Steve Blake from the Los Angeles Clippers. Amare Stoudamire breaks for the Big Apple with an unbelievable $100 million dollar deal and Carlos Boozer goes to Chicago. Well, what remains to transpire over the off season remains to be seen. But, I'm sure this will prove to be an outstanding NBA vacation. I guess my predictions started out alright but the James/ Bosh make them only 50% on target:
- LeBron will stay in Cleveland, nope, leaves for Miami
- Dwayne Wade will stay in Miami, yep
- Boozer will go for Miami with his buddy Wade, nope, but he left Utah
- Phil Jackson returns to the Lakers for his fourth "three-peat" and his 12th title, yep
- Chris Bosh goes to Dallas, nope, but leaves Toronto
- Lilo will stay with Victor, yep (okay, Zach too but only for the 2010/ 2011 season; rumor has it that a few schools may be wooing Zach to go there way).
I may not see you guys this coming Saturday, I mysteriously hurt my knee over the past weekend. But, as our infamous Governor has said in the past, ".... I'll be back..." Hard to get the accent right though. Take care.
